Police were forced to close a main road in Worsley near the M60 Junction 13 roundabout after a lorry caught fire, causing long delays in rush-hour traffic.
The fire in the skip wagon is thought to have broken out on Worsley Brow at around 7.15am today, Wednesday 19 August.
Police closed the A572 Leigh Road near the junction with Walkden Road and officers are turning traffic around at the roundabout near St Mark’s Church.
Drivers can still get off the M60 at J13 in both directions but diversions are in place.
GMP Traffic tweeted about the closure this morning.

The driver of the skip wagon is not thought to have been injured in the blaze.
The fire and road closure is still causing delays as of 8.30am.
Traffic is slow in Walkden town centre on Manchester Road, while drivers are seeing severe delays on routes between Astley and Swinton.
