Local choirs join forces for musical extravaganza

Two local Choirs will be joining forces for the first time to present an annual musical extravaganza which will be bigger and better than ever.

Urmston Choral Society and the Irlam Male Voice Choir, under their Musical Director, Julie Parker, will be performing a wide range of musical favourites including highlights from Mamma Mia!, West Side Story, The Sound of Music, Beauty and the Beast, Hey Look Me Over, Get Me To The Church and On The Street Where You Live, plus other popular standards.

The concerts will take place at Flixton Girls’ School, Flixton, on Friday, September 25, and repeated at Cadishead Primary School on Allotment Road, Cadishead, on Saturday, September 26, both starting at 7.30pm.

Tickets are priced £8 (adults), £6 concessions and £2 (students/ children) and can be purchased from Maxine Summers, Tel: 0161 748 0903 or bought on the door.

Said Julie: “Having two such prestigious local Choirs performing together is one of the most thrilling ventures Urmston Choral has ever undertaken and everyone involved is very excited. With such a wide spectrum of light-hearted music, it will be a wonderful departure from the usual repertoire of both Choirs and will greatly enhance the musical experience of the audiences.”

Urmston Choral Society is currently recruiting to the alto, tenor and bass sections. If you are interested in joining, please contact the Choir Secretary, Kath Foster, Tel: 0161 747 9592 or email kathfoster@talktalk.net.
