Child porn suspect on the run

Police are appealing for help in tracing a man who is wanted on a crown court warrant after absconding whilst on trial.

53-year-old Julian Myerscough, who is from the Manchester area but previously resided in Lowestoft, disappeared from Ipswich Crown Court yesterday afternoon, Wednesday 30 September, during a recess while the jury had retired to consider its verdict.

Myerscough stood accused of downloading child pornography and breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order and was found guilty of all charges in his absence.

He is believed to have left Ipswich on the 1.43pm train to London Liverpool Street, which stopped at Manningtree, Colchester, Chelmsford and Stratford. British Transport Police met the train at Liverpool Street and found no trace of him.

Myerscough is described as white, 6ft 2in tall, of slim build, with greying hair and was wearing a suit at the time.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen Myerscough or anyone matching his description, in particular in the area of any of the stops on the London-bound train, or at any regional sea or air ports.

Anyone with information on Myerscough’s whereabouts is asked to contact Suffolk Police on 101 quoting reference CAD 262 of 30 September.
