Sir David Dalton named top Chief Executive for 2015

Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust’s Sir David Dalton has been named the top NHS provider Chief Executive for 2015 by the Health Service Journal (HSJ).

The HSJ’s annual countdown celebrates the NHS leaders who have shown outstanding leadership and commitment to their organisations.

Judges considered the financial and care quality performance of each organisation as well as looking at individuals who went above and beyond and those whose efforts, skills and focus set them apart.

Sir David Dalton was awarded the top spot following a year in which he influenced care within Salford Royal and the Salford community. He has also had an impact on the wider NHS through the Dalton Review which is likely to help shape the future of acute trusts.

Sir David has been the Chief Executive of Salford Royal for the last 13 years, building up a national reputation for safety, quality improvement and safe, clean and personal care at the Trust.

Salford Royal has recently been awarded an Outstanding rating following a Care Quality Commission inspection visit and has been rated in the top three nationally for overall staff engagement in the 2014 NHS Staff Survey.
