Local people are being given the opportunity to remember loved ones in a very special way this Christmas, thanks to a fundraising appeal by St Ann’s Hospice.
The charity, which operates from three sites in Little Hulton, Heald Green and the Neil Cliffe Centre in Wythenshawe Hospital, is giving people the chance to dedicate a light on one of the hospice’s Christmas trees across the local area whilst making a donation to St Ann’s.
Alison Gilbody, Director of Income Generation and Communications at St Ann’s Hospice, said: “This is a very special appeal, and thousands of local people take part in it each year. Some dedicate lights to those they’ve lost, while others take part to celebrate someone they cannot be with at Christmas.
“Everyone who takes part and makes a donation is helping us to care for the thousands of local people we support each year, whilst celebrating the lives of loved ones too. The trees always look fabulous all lit up and it’s really moving to think about the amazing people those lights represent.”
As part of this appeal, the hospice also holds Light up a Life services, which allow people to come together to reflect, celebrate, and to see the lights switched on. Services are ticketed and take place at Manchester Cathedral, St Peter’s Church in Hale and at the Little Hulton and Heald Green hospice sites.
