Easter services in Salford


Find out where special services are being held around Salford as Christians celebrate the religious festival at the end of Lent.

Easter is a time of worship for many as they celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, described in the New Testament as having happened three days after his crucifixion on Good Friday.

Here is a brief summary of Easter religious services being held in Salford this year starting from Easter Thursday until Easter Sunday.

Salford Cathedral on Chapel Street will hold the following services, as will all of the Catholic churches in Salford.

Easter Thursday Mass at 8pm

Good Friday Mass at 3pm

Holy Saturday Mass 11am followed by a watching until 8pm

Easter Sunday Mass at 11.15am

Eccles Church of England Diocese will hold the following events and Masses

Easter Thursday Mass at St Andrews, Chadwick Road, Eccles starting at 7.30pm.

Good Friday Masses will be held at: St Pauls, Monton starting at 10.30am; Eccles Parish Church starting at 2pm; St Andrews starting at 7pm.

There will also be a Walk of Witness starting at 7pm from St Paul’s, Monton when the congregation will walk to St Andrews Church on Chadwick Road, Eccles carrying a crucifix, followed by a choir concert.

Easter Sunday Masses will be held at: St Paul’s, Monton at 8pm; St James, Hope at 9.30am; Christ Church, Patricroft at 9.45am; Eccles Parish Church at 11am; St Andrews, Eccles at 11am.

In addition, on Easter Sunday there will also be an Alternative Easter Service from 10.30am at the Agnes Hopkins Centre in Swinton.
