Why go online?

The World Wide Web has over 2.4 billion users worldwide! There is a reason that so many people are using the internet, whether from a laptop, tablet or smart phone, as it has a number of great benefits

Information at your fingertips – There is a wealth of great facts and figures on the net, and being able to get online means you can help the kids with their homework!

Applying for jobs – 7 million jobs are put online each year and 90% of all employment opportunities require basic ICT skills

Claiming benefits – To apply for jobs via Universal Job Match you need to have an email address; and it’s expected that you will make your Universal Credit online – there will be no paper form

Staying in touch – The internet can be a great way of keeping in touch with friends and family; home and abroad using online tools like facebook and skype plus meeting new people who share the same interests

Get involved – Local events are often promoted online so it’s a great way of finding out what’s happening in your local community. Plus a great way to keep the kids busy in school holidays!

Save money – From comparing household insurance online, to grabbing a bargain on eBay, using the internet can help you save money. Households can save around £560 a year from shopping and paying bills online!
