Cyclist, 33, in surgery after Weaste crash: Police appeal for dash-cam footage


Police have appealed for witnesses or drivers with dashboard cameras to come forward after a cyclist was seriously injured in a Weaste crash in Salford this morning.

The 33-year-old was cycling along Weaste Lane at around 9.05am when he collided with a flat-bed truck carrying wooden pallets at the junction of Tootal Road.

He suffered severe leg injuries in the crash.

Paramedics treated the cyclist in the road before rushing him to Salford Royal hospital, where he is receiveing surgery on his injured legs.

Police closed sections of Tootal Road, Weaste Lane and Liverpool Street for around four hours while they investigated the scene. These closures have now been lifted.

Police Constable Paul Joynson of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “I am appealing to any who saw the collision or who may have captured the incident on a dash cam to please contact police.”
