Police were called to Salford Precinct at 11.25am on Tuesday 13 October after receiving reports that an elderly man had been robbed of a charity box containing roughly £70.
The man, in his 60’s, was collecting for The Veterans Trust, a non-profit organisation which helps ex-servicemen.
Two youths in their early teens approached the man as he was looking in a shop window and snatched the collection bucket containing the money, running off in the direction of the Tesco store.
Michael Figg, the Director of The Veterans Trust told SalfordOnline.com
“This is absolutely disgusting to steal money that was going to towards a charity for ex-servicemen.
“I hope that the police catch these idiots as soon as possible”.
Greater Manchester Police are studying CCTV footage and if you have any information please phone 101.
