A man who failed to return to prison after absconding during a visit to a monastery is thought to be in the Manchester area.

58-year-old Malcolm Millman, who also goes by the names Richard Barber, Michael Newman, and Raymond Pilkington was
last seen at Manchester Airport at 12.30pm on Tuesday 27 October.

Police do not believe he has access to a passport and is still in the area.

Millman, who is in the care of a medium security facility in Milton Keynes, absconded on Saturday 24 October during a day visit to a monastery in Hemel Hampstead, around 25 miles north of London.

He is white, of large build, bald with thinning brown hair on the sides and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a brown jacket, purple jumper, grey tracksuit bottoms and blue and white trainers and carrying a walking stick.

Supt Olly Wright, Thames Valley Police urged members of the public not to approach Millman if spotted.

He said: “If you are reading this and have any information whatsoever about Millman’s whereabouts then please call police on 101.

“If you don’t feel comfortable speak directly to the police then you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at www.crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.”
