Shocked residents have told of hearing up to five gunshots after a house was shot at on the Brookhouse estate in Eccles, Salford.
The front window of a terraced property on Boddington Road was smashed by gunfire at around 11pm last night, Sunday 8 November.
No-one was injured in the incident.
It is believed to be the home of a mother and three brothers, two of whom are understood to be known to police.
At the scene this morning, Monday 9 November, one neighbour told SalfordOnline.com she had heard “four or five shots and the sound of a car speeding away”.
A second said: “I heard three pops but it sounded like fireworks to me.”
Officers are now due to go door-to-door making enquiries and looking for any potential CCTV which could show the vehicle used in the shooting.
Police have cordoned off a 100-yard section of Boddington Road, from the junction with Brereton Road, beyond the junction with Salteye Road, and locals are not being allowed through.
One officer remains stationed outside the house this morning.
It’s the latest Salford shooting since seven-year-old Christian Hickey and his mother Jayne were shot in the legs in Winton on Monday 12 October.
Police do not believe the Brookhouse shooting is linked to this, or any other recent gun violence in the city.
In the past 18 months Salford residents have had to endure 21 other shootings, linked by detectives to “an incident of disrespect” and an escalating turf war over drug territory between gangs in central Salford, Swinton, Little Hulton and Bolton.
11.45am Update: Crime Scene Investigators have arrived on Boddington Road in the last 20 minutes.
Residents are being asked to sign in and out to pass the crime scene.
