Tiki bar pop-up ‘Shack’ to open at MediaCityUK

Slice those pineapples and don a grass skirt as a new pop-up bar prepares to open on the MediaCityUK piazza.

The team behind the Dockyard MediaCityUK are getting in the mood for summer with the launch of their new bar called ‘The Shack’.

The Tiki-style bar is due set to open on 1 May and will be serving tropical-style drinks from a wooden style shack adorned with Tiki heads, driftwood, curios and palm trees.

It follows on from the same team’s winter warming pop-up bar The Lodge, which was set in a series of tipis outside the BBC buildings by the Manchester Ship Canal.

Steve Pilling, owner of the Dockyard and the Shack said: “We had great fun running the winter Lodge last year and therefore wanted to create another cool pop-up bar where people can have some sizzling, summer fun!

“Our vision for The Shack is to offer a great space where people can enjoy a cocktail (or two) and a bite to eat, in a setting that gives a real relaxing holiday vibe”.

Stephen Wild, managing director of MediaCityUK said:
“As we head into summer and the weather warms up, it’s great to be able to offer our visitors, employees and residents a new bar where they can relax with family and friends.

“The Lodge was a great success last winter and Dockyard has been a welcome addition to MediaCityUK, so we look forward to seeing what fun the Shack will bring over the summer months”.
