Salford child abuser jailed for 10 years

A man who sexually abused two girls in Salford has been jailed.

Michael Leslie Wynne, 45, of Lancaster Road, Salford, was found guilty of 11 counts of sexual abuse after a trial at Manchester Crown Court.

The court heard that Wynne’s victims were just five and eight years old.

Both girls, now 30 and 13, bravely gave evidence in court.

Today, Thursday 19 November 2015, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Wynne will also be on the sex offenders register for life.

Between 1990 and 1998, Wynne subjected a girl in Salford to a series of assaults.

She was just five when the abuse started.

In 2010 he also sexually abused a girl in Wythenshawe who was eight at the time.

Detective Constable Victoria Burgess of the Public Protection Investigation Unit said: “I commend both victims in this horrific case for being brave enough to speak out about the abuse they suffered at the hands of Wynne.

“They have had to go through the trauma of giving evidence, but by doing so they have helped to bring Wynne to justice.

“I hope today’s sentence shows that we will investigate sexual abuse and pursue offenders, no matter how long ago it happened.”
