Daughter’s plea to find devastated dad’s 63-year-old wedding ring

Ally Barbour, a local woman from Eccles, has posted an online appeal to recover her father’s lost wedding ring.

On Saturday 21 November she was out shopping with her 83-year-old father when his beloved wedding ring slipped off his finger somewhere in Salford or Eccles.

Her Facebook plea for its return has already been shared over 3,500 times.

Ally told SalfordOnline.com: “He was last wearing it either in The Range in Eccles or Sainsburys on Regent Road in Salford.

“It was only when we started shopping in Sainsbury’s my dad noticed it was missing.”

Ally’s parents have been married since 1952 and her father has worn the gold sovereign ring every day for the past 63 years.

The loss is especially keen as Ally’s mother is currently ill in hospital, leaving the pensioner devastated.

Ally explained: “It has no market value and it’s the sentimental value that matters to him. I’d do anything to find it for him.”

She told us how staff in both stores had been helpful but had not had any luck when searching for the missing jewellery.

The ring is said to be bent through both wear and tear and possibly slipped off his finger because he has recently lost weight.

Ally would like anyone with information about the ring to get in contact as her Dad is heartbroken without it.

She posted on Facebook: “Thank you so much to those who have shared or liked this, especially those that are strangers some of which have been kind enough to get in touch with offers of help.

“We may not have found dad’s ring yet but I have seen how kind people still are.

“I told dad who is still very upset and he was very touched by the response.”

If anyone has any information they can contact Ally on Facebook or email newsdesk@salfordonline.com.
