Healthwatch Salford are launching a public survey as the local Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) potentially plan more weekend access to GPs across the city.
A Citizen’s Panel meeting found that members of the public wanted better access to GP services, especially at evenings and weekends.
Now they hope a 12-day online survey will reveal how many people want extended hours access.
Salford CCG is the NHS organization responsible for local health services and will have to deliver the public service.
The CCG say they are looking to provide “a high quality GP Extended Access Service”, which would mean GP services are available for longer hours over more days of the week.
It would include seven-day access to GP services, with weekday appointments available from 6.30pm to 8pm at two currently unconfirmed locations in Salford, as well as appointments available at weekends.
The anonymous, confidential survey will run until Sunday 6 December 2015.
