Thursday 10 December sees the launch of a new pilot scheme for a Business School to help local people take their first steps in considering self-employment & entrepreneurship as an option for work. Among other attractions, the event will feature the unveiling of the biggest leap forward in ‘Pietech’ in human history.
The scheme is being run by Langworthy Cornerstone Association in partnership with local organisations such as Banana Enterprise Network (a registered charity) and is believed to be the only Business School of its type delivering grass roots level “pre-self-employment” support in Salford.
The service is offered FREE thanks to National Lottery funding, and it has been specifically tailored to the needs of local people who would like to explore the idea of self-employment, but who face barriers to their progress such as a lack of skills & connections, knowledge of how to develop their ideas, a lack of belief in themselves, and the support needed to get things going.
People who are eligible for the FREE service will be given access to experienced Business Advisor support, training courses & seminars, volunteering opportunities and a new networking & mentoring support group. In addition to this, the Langworthy Business School will also be offering affordable hot-desking/co-working office space for new fledgling businesses. Priced at just £25 per week, the service includes all telephone calls, superfast wifi, car parking and reception facilities and support from a Business Advisor. The pilot scheme has been made possible through the support of the National Lottery Awards for All programme.
The Business School will also offer Salford residents the chance to attend free business start-up training courses such as an “Introduction to self-employment”. The course teaches people everything they need to know about what self-employment involves, from market research, to understanding finance, Marketing and what a business plan is! There will also be free bookkeeping courses and other essential seminars to equip salford residents with the skills, knowledge and information they need when thinking about self-employment.
John Phillips, Chief Officer for Langworthy Cornerstone Centre said, “We are delighted to be launching the new business school in Langworthy. We are teaming up with an exciting range of organisations & experts, to bring together a ‘really useful’ package of support for local people. We believe this is a unique approach to helping people reach their potential. There will be no ‘wrong doors’ at Langworthy Business School”.
