A man brandishing a large knife threatened a female member of staff at Poundstretcher in Ordsall before making off with hundreds of pounds.
Police were called to the Regent Road Retail Park store at 6pm on Friday 4 December.
The offender, who is described as being in his late teens and who had with face covered with a hood, walked into the bargain store are two hours before closing time and pulled out a knife, threatening the staff member before stealing cash from the till.
It’s not known exactly how much was stolen but it is thought to be a three-figure sum.
Police are now studying CCTV to identify the thug.
Enquiries are continuing and anyone who was in the local area at the time is asked to call Greater Manchester Police on 101.
