The recent atrocious weather continued to play havoc with the fixtures involving Beechfield United’s Junior Section teams but the six games that did take place all went ahead on artificial pitches.
There was in in-house derby game between Beechy’s Under 9’s Hurricanes and Storm played at Eccles College. Both teams displayed total commitment in an absorbing contest and the one goal scored proved to be a match winner for the Hurricanes. On target for the Hurricanes was Reilly Happy who was also named Man of the Match. Best Player for the Storm was Oliver Percival.
Also in action at Eccles College were the Under 9’s Typhoon who met De La Salle Hawks. The Typhoon players produced a below-par display in this Salford and Districts League tournament contest and eventually lost the match. Following a breakaway move involving Milonga Mututa and Sonny O’Brien a fine finish by Daniel Hesketh earned Beechy their consolation goal.
Star Player was stand-in keeper Jamie Withington who came close to getting a goal after taking on an attacking role.
Beechy Under 8’s Tornadoes played Swinton Panthers in a Development Group Blue fixture at the JJB Soccer Dome with no wind or rain to spoil the match. It was Swinton Panthers who took the lead with a well worked goal but the Tornadoes put a few good moves together and found an equaliser. Both teams continued to play good possession football and moved the ball around with real confidence and Beechy held a slight lead at the break.
The second half was just as entertaining as the first with the Tornadoes coming out on top despite a spirited fight back by their opponents. Goalscorers for Beechy were Joshua Taylor, Aiden Lawton, Ellis O’Brien-Walsh, Jonathan Lowery and Joel Thorndyke. Congratulations go to the Tornadoes squad who have been promoted to the Red Division. This is your reward for all the hard work you have put in this season.
Both other Under 8’s teams the Hurricanes and Storm moved their games to the JJB Soccer Dome. Against AFC Monton White the Under 8’s Hurricanes created a great all-round performance and scored some top quality goals via Man of the Match Owen Bolton, Brett McWilliams, Coby McCormack and Jayden Walker.
Mikey Walsh was the Under 8’s Storm Man of the Match in the game with Flixton Junior Dynamos and he also netted the teams only goal. Keeper Jack Hanbury was in superb form and saved a penalty.
Away at Ladybridge Wolves the Under 7’s Storm had to deal with the poor weather conditions but the players still managed to produce a very good display. United’s squad was as follows : Scott Craven, Oliver Dalton-Bunker, Ellis Adamson, Ewan Tierney, Lucas Harris, Matthew Cox, Kylan Twigg and Man of the Match Henry Jones.
