The Swinton High School has retained its ‘Good’ Ofsted rating in a report released today.
School inspectors visited the Converter Academy on Sefton Road over two days on 10 and 11 November.
They scored the school highly for its overall effectiveness, leadership and management, the quality of its teaching and pupil behaviour.
Outcomes and personal development for pupils were also rated ‘Good’.
Inspectors found: “The headteacher and his senior leaders provide strong leadership. They have led a very clear school focus on improving pupil progress and the quality of teaching and learning.
“Leaders know their school well and where it needs to improve. School systems to improve teaching and learning and pupils’ progress are effective.
“Teaching is good and improving because teachers are getting better at ensuring that pupils make faster progress.
To become an outstanding school The Swinton High must “close the gap in achievements between disadvantaged pupils and their peers, challenge pupils to extend their knowledge and build up a deeper understanding of topics,” said Ofsted.
It means the school retains the ‘Good’ rating it scored at the last Ofsted inspection in 2012.

In a statement headteacher Mark Harrison said: “The students at The Swinton High School are our best ambassadors and the report clearly shows how well they demonstrated what we stand for to the inspectors.
“The very good behaviour of our students shines through the report and reflects the pride they share in the school.
“The report confirms what we know of The Swinton High School, that it is learning focused, that staff at all levels strive for the best for our students and that we provide a Good education that secures the best possible life chances for our children.
