The weekend is almost upon us once again and because there’s so many events on in Salford we’ve had to extend Top 5 things to do to a Top 10!

Eccles councillors will be out collecting food for the less fortunate in the area, food can be donated to them outside Morrisons and Tesco’s stores in Eccles, please give generously to this noble cause.
University of Salford Pop- Up Shops – Saturday 12 December – 10am – 4pm
Hunt out the unique Pop-up Shops at Eccles Market and Eccles Shopping Centre as students from Salford University sell their unique handmade products. One-off beautiful gifts for Christmas available.
Carols around Eccles Cross – Saturday 12 December – 11am – 12pm
Churches Together in Eccles and Eccles Borough Band lead an open-air carol concert with bible readings and prayers at Eccles Cross on Church Street.Everyone is welcome.
Digital light festival – Lightwaves – Saturday 12 December – 10am -7pm
Call in at Salford Quays and view this amazing art installation featuring Intrude, Cathedral of Mirrors and AMAZE.
Monton Voices Choir – Saturday 12 December – St Paul’s Monton 7pm – 9pm
Hear Monton Voices choir sing carols both old and new at a special Christmas concert
Christmas Grotto at Ordsall Hall – Sunday 13 December – 1pm – 4pm
Come and meet Father Christmas in his grotto and receive a gift for your child whilst taking in the magnificent Ordsall Hall which be selling traditional Christmas food and drinks, a great day out is promised.

Elf on the Twelfth – Saturday 12 December – 10am – 4pm.
In conjunction with St Anne’s hospice, Walkden community are having an elf day in Walkden town centre.
Elf the movie will be shown in the pop up cinema
Tickets available from the Walkden community stall inside Walkden town centre or at St Anne’s Hospice charity shop, £3.50 with £1 donated to St Anne’s Hospice.
Big Issue North Fundraiser – Sunday 13 December – KIngs Arms, Bloom Street, Salford – 7pm – Late.
Help the Big Issue in the North as they present an evening of live music, poetry, artwork, raffles and lots more all for a great cause.
Admission is £5.
Christmas Fayre -Animals in Distress, Silver Street, Irlam – Sunday 13 December – 11am – 4pm
An event to raise funds to look after the the animals in their care, attractions include raffles tombolas and goods for sale.

Beer and Carols – St Philip’s Church, Wilton Place – Sunday 13 December – 7pm -9pm
What’s not to like? They have lovely local ale, other drinks as well including mulled wine, they are all on sale for less than you pay at the Christmas Markets, live music, gather round the piano and sing your hearts out and help raise money for their Christian Aid project in Burkina Faso.
