Police were called to the Manchester Ship Canal in Weaste, Salford today, after receiving reports of a body in the water.
Officers were called to Broadway, near MediaCityUK, at 11am this morning, Wednesday 16 December.
At this stage Greater Manchester Police were not able to confirm the age or gender of the person.
Enquiries are continuing and more details are expected later today.
