Local opticians show Egg-cellent support for SuperJosh charity

Alan Miller Optometrists has raised a cracking £70 this Easter for Greater Manchester children’s cancer charity SuperJosh, which supports the lives of children with brain tumours and post-surgery disabilities.

The money was raised in the run up to Easter at both Alan Miller practices in Salford and Irlam.

Patients were offered the chance to win a giant chocolate egg from Thorntons, by purchasing raffle tickets for £1 and be entered into the draw, with all proceeds raised going to the charity.

Julie Wright, a patient at the Salford practice was the first name to be drawn, winning the delicious Easter treat.

John Geurts, who won the giant chocolate egg at the Irlam practice kindly donated his prize to a children’s ward at Salford Royal Hospital.

Dhiren Patel, practice manager at Alan Miller Irlam, said: “We cannot thank the amazing patients at both our practices enough for their kind donations towards SuperJosh and all the brave children and their families who they support.

“The gesture by John to donate his egg to the children’s ward was especially touching. We’ve had extremely positive feedback from our patients about the fundraising, so much so that we will be extending our efforts to support SuperJosh until the end of April.”

Dawn Fidler, founder of the charity, said: “It was amazing to hear that Alan Miller Optometrists were raising money for SuperJosh. I’m really thankful to everyone who contributed and I’m really pleased that they have decided to extend their fundraising efforts till the end of April.”
