Greater Manchester Police have produced a cheeky Christmas card warning offenders to be on their best behaviour over the festive period.
The card warns criminals that they risk jail time if they misbehave over Christmas.
A play on Marks&Spencer’s famous advert, it reads: “This is not just a Christmas dinner. This is a GMP custody suite Christmas dinner.”
The card, which is being sent out to 1,000 homes across the region, runs alongside a photo of a luxury Christmas lunch compared with a custody sergeant holding a standard custody suite meal.
It’s followed by the warning that offenders will spend time in the cells if they break the law this festive period.
Superintendent Chris Hankinson, Branch Commander for Criminal Justice & Custody at GMP said: “Whilst this card does poke a bit of fun at our custody suite’s meal options, there is a serious message behind this.
“Law-abiding citizens of Greater Manchester should be able to enjoy Christmas without fear of criminal behaviour wreaking havoc.
“This card is our reminder that we will not tolerate a small handful of people ruining a special time for many, and will take action where appropriate.
“Our officers have been working hard to keep homes safe from burglars, bringing offenders to justice and ensuring the safety of everyone on the streets and in their communities.
“We’d ask all recipients of this card to be mindful of their behaviour and to make the right choice. It’s either behave or spend Christmas behind bars. The choice is yours.”
