Funeral for Craig Creedon at Peel Green this week

A Salford man who tragically lost his life after being hit by a train will be laid to rest this week at Peel Green Cemetery.

31-year-old gym fanatic Craig Creedon died on Saturday 5 December at Eccles railway station.

An inquest has now been launched with the Police Coroner’s Office and a report is due in April 2016.

Family and friends gathered to lay flowers and pictures of Craig at Eccles station on Church Street, describing him as ‘the life and soul of the party’.

Tragically Craig’s family still believe his life could have been saved had he not been released that night from a mental health unit in Salford.

His family criticised health authorities for allowing Craig to leave the Meadowbrook facility on Stott Lane without telling his family, despite Craig having threatened to kill himself earlier that day.

That evening he was found not to be a danger to himself and allowed to leave the unit.

Just an hour later, he was dead.

In a statement the Creddon family said: “Craig’s family would like to thank everyone for their heartfelt wishes and thoughts after the loss of our wonderful boy.

“He will be greatly missed by so many.”

The funeral starts at 12.20pm on Wednesday 23 December.

The Creedon family have requested flowers and donations to Macmillan Cancer Support.
