Armed robber strikes Poundstretcher in Salford

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man armed with a knife robbed a Poundstretcher in Salford.

At around 6pm on Friday 4 December 2015, the offender walked into Poundstretcher on Regent Retail Park and walked around the store checking each aisle and walking back out.

Moments later, and with his hood tied tightly around his face, the offender re-entered the store and walked up to the counter.

He threatened the shop assistant with a long kitchen knife and demanded that she hand over money from the till.
After snatching more than £500 from the counter, the man ran away.

The offender is described as white, around 30 years old, 5ft 10in tall, and of skinny build. He was wearing a navy blue hooded top with a grey waist-length jacket underneath, dark tracksuit bottoms, dark gloves and black Nike trainers.

Detective Constable Paul Reynolds said: “This man terrified the shop assistant, who was threatened with a 12 inch kitchen knife before she handed over the money.

“This robbery occurred on a busy precinct in the evening, so there is a good chance someone will have seen this man either just before or just after the robbery took place.

“I am requesting that any members of the public who believe they may have seen him, or anything which may assist the investigation, to contact police.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident number 041215/1879 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
