Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious collision in Leigh.
Shortly after 9pm on Thursday 31 December 2015 a 79-year-old man and a 74-year-old woman were crossing Manchester Road near to its junction with Green Lane when they were struck by a blue Vauxhall Zafira, which was intending to turn right onto Green Lane.
The driver stopped and was uninjured. The man and the woman were taken to hospital, where the woman was treated for a broken hip, pelvis and wrist and the man was treated for cuts to his face. Both remain in hospital.
Police Constable Edward Lister of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This woman sustained serious injuries as a result of this collision.
“We are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and I would appeal to any witnesses to come forward.
“This happened on New Year’s Eve when there were lots of people about, so if you were in the area at the time and saw the collision, please do not hesitate to contact us.”
