Warning over schoolgirl ‘being followed’ in Eccles

SalfordOnline.com were contacted by one of our readers today to tell us of a suspicious male that she noticed on Monday evening around 5.30pm on Liverpool Road, Patricroft who appeared to be following a young girl home from school.

She became concerned about the man’s behaviour as he seemed to be staring at the girl, who was wearing a St Patrick’s RC High School uniform, and even followed her across the main road, near the junction with Milton Street.

The girl went into a nearby house and the man then turned around and walked back along Liverpool Road in the direction of Eccles.

She describes him as being white, 5ft 6in tall, in his 30’s, wearing a red beanie hat, a navy coat, unshaven and carrying a black drawstring bag.

A post made on Facebook about the incident has been shared over 600 times.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that they had received this report of a suspicious male.

A spokesperson for the force told us that all parents should be vigilant when picking their children up from school especially as the nights are getting darker, earlier, and to use their common sense.

If you notice anything suspicious do not hesitate to contact Greater Manchester Police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
