Walkden Library marks the Centenary with a range of stimulating talks, reading group meetings and events in 2016. The first three events take place February-April.

Speaking the Unspeakable: Writing and Memory of the Great War, led by Marian Casale O’Ryan.
Come along for a fascinating, in depth look at poetry relating to World War I. Mariana will lead the session to explore the power of words to convey the complexity of the war experience, then and now. Tickets £5.00, handouts and refreshments included.
Saturday 5 March, 10.30m – 12 noon
The Letters of Jack Trenbath with Paul Hassall. A Salford soldier writes home from the trenches, giving us a vivid insight to what life was like for an ordinary tommy. Tickets £3.50
Saturday 22 April, 10.30am -12 noon
The Life of Wilfred Owen with Cynthia Greenwood. An illustrated talk about one of the best-known war poets, who hailed for the North West. Tickets £3.50
