Salix Homes tenants affected by the Boxing Day floods are being urged to claim financial assistance through a new support package they have developed.
As part of their financial support package, residents can claim up to £350 per month while the repairs are carried out to homes.
Tenants can claim £50 a week disturbance allowance until they have completed all repairs on the property; £50 per month to help with additional energy costs; and £25 per week to cover the running costs of de-humidifiers, which we are supplying to help dry out the properties.
Lee Sugden, their chief executive, said: “Our financial support package is now available and we don’t want any tenants who were affected by the floods to miss out. We would urge anyone who has not yet claimed to contact us as soon as possible.
“Our priority at the moment is to provide all the help and support we can to our tenants at this difficult time, and while there is a long road ahead, we hope this financial package will go some way towards helping them rebuild their lives.”
It is expected that the recovery and repair operation could take several months to deliver for the worst affected properties – with the drying-out process alone expected to take several weeks.
