Swinton restaurant The Edge hit for £6k by thieves

Food, alcohol and a weekend’s takings were stolen from an Indian restaurant in Swinton.

Police believe that unknown offenders broke in to The Edge on Chorley Road during the early hours of Sunday January 10.

Thieves gained access to the building via a rear alleyway before smashing a small kitchen window.

The owners are reportedly devastated by the loss and damage caused.

£250 was stolen from the tills along with raw meat from the kitchen.

Bottles of wine, beer and expensive champagne were also stolen in the robbery.

The total cost of the items stolen are thought to be in the region of £6,000.

It’s the second time The Edge has been targeted by thieves in the past year.

No arrests have yet been made and Greater Manchester Police said their enquiries were continuing.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
