Two men from Manchester arrested for murder of Daniel Smith


Two men have been arrested as part of an investigation into the death of a man in Salford.

At around 1.20am on Wednesday 20 January 2016, police were called to Irwell Street in Ordsall following reports that a tent located under a railway bridge was on fire.

When Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue extinguished the fire, a man’s body was discovered in the tent.

The man has been identified as 23-year-old Daniel Smith. Specialist officers are now providing support to his family.

A Home Office post-mortem examination concluded that Daniel died from multiple injuries.

Two 24-year-old men from Manchester have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody for questioning.
