Around 5:40am on Sunday the 24th January a grey Audi S3 and a lorry travelling westbound on the M62 between the Eccles interchange and junction 11 were in collision. The collision caused the lorry to overturn and the westbound carriageway remains closed.
The woman who was in the Audi has sadly died. A man who was also in the Audi has been taken to hospital and is in a serious condition. Enquires are ongoing to inform next of kin. Police are appealing for information and witnesses.
PC Paul Joynson from the serious collision investigation unit said ‘ we are currently carrying out our enquires to locate the family of those involved and establish exactly what happened for such a tragedy to occur. We are asking if anybody witnessed the collision itself or saw the Audi travelling along either the M602 or the M60 in the early hours of this morning to contact Police’.
