Following an improvement in the weather just four games involving teams from Beechfield United’s Junior Section were postponed. The Under 11’s Tornadoes and Under 17’s teams had no fixture.
Beechfield United Under 15’s Predators went three points clear at the top of the JFC Sports Division following a 7-3 away win over Bolton Indian Sports Club. In the Tameside Football league Beechy were without several key players and guilty of a poor first half performance the Predators conceded the opening goal but equalised seconds before half time thanks to a goal from Brandon Kent. On a small pitch United struggled against their opponents long ball tactic throughout the first half but it was a different story after the break.
Finding a better rhythm and displaying more confidence and aggression Beechy gradually took control and playing up the slope looked capable of scoring a goal at the end of every attack and their opponents keeper was the busiest player on the pitch. Goals for Beechy in the second half came from Anjola Onasayna (2) Man of the Match Ethan Haynes, Dylan Durose, Jamie Pollitt and Jace Winspear who was making his debut.
Delighted to be playing their first official match in nine weeks were the Under 15’s Tornadoes. In the Players Cup United were at home to Mossbank JFC Blues and booked their place in the quarter-finals courtesy of a 5-3 victory. Beechy who led 2-0 at half time scored goals via Joseph Furlong (2) Charlie James, Mason White and Kieron Alley.
With only nine players available the Under 13’s Tornadoes faced Urmston Town Sharks away and suffered a heavy defeat. Manager Peter Wright praised all the players involved who throughout the match displayed a never-say-die attitude. Derryn Harrison netted a consolation goal for the Tornadoes.
At Salford Sports Village the Under 12’s Tornadoes (9v9) were involved in a great game with Salford Lads who scored two goals in the last four minutes to claim a 2-0 victory. In this Division 3 encounter both goalkeepers made numerous brilliant saves and following a superb display defender Henry Grimes was named as the Tornadoes Man of the Match.
Beechy Under 11’s Thunder (9v9) played neighbours Moorside Rangers Green at Eccles College. United who were at full strength for the first time in weeks produced an impressive display and won this Development Group Red Division match. Jake O’Sullivan gave Beechy the perfect start scoring the opening goal but Rangers punished some slack defending and drew level. The minor setback was quickly forgotten because United soon regained the lead and dominating the match eventually secured a comfortable victory. Jake O’Sullivan was on target again while Samuel Oludoyi helped himself to a hat trick but it was Liam Cremmins who collected the Man of the Match Award.
The Under 11’s Storm (9v9) were in action for the first time in eight weeks when they travelled to play Urmston Town Devils after reversing the fixture. This Development Group Blue Division game included some first-class soccer and a total of eleven goals. Goalscorers for the Storm who won the match were Star Player Finley Irwin, Mason Turner, Luke Carr, Adam Rothwell and Damion Broughton.
On Sunday morning the Under 10’s Storm players faced a tough challenge against South Manchester Tigers. After conceding a couple of goals United created enough chances to equalise before the Tigers added a third goal. Continuing to display great character the Storm briefly got back into the match with goals from Harrison Davies and Elliott McLurg-Taylor before South Manchester Tigers scored two more goals before the break. Josh Everall and Ben Delaney were on target in the second half for the Storm who’s Man of the Match Award was given to goalkeeper Sam Walton who produced a brilliant display.
Another Beechy team playing their first game in almost nine weeks were the Under 10’s Tornadoes. On a 3G Astroturf Pitch United turned on the style in their Development Group Red Division match at Ladybridge Tigers and celebrated an emphatic victory. Harley Davidson with five goals, Kaiden McClean via a hat trick and Man of the Match Jack Fitton were the Tornadoes goalscorers.
Extending their impressive unbeaten run to six games were the Under 9’s Hurricanes who met local rivals Moorside Rangers Red. Goals for the Hurricanes in this Development Group Purple Division encounter were scored by Man of the match Georgi Georgiev, James Taylor, Dominic Roaden and Josh Clough.
In the same Division the Under 9’s Storm were involved in a high scoring match with Woodbank JFC. This contest included thirteen goals but it was Beechy who eventually ended up on the losing side. Alfie Gee was the team’s Best Player while Caden Gibson and Josh McLoughlin got the goals.
At the JJB Soccer Dome the Under 8’s Hurricanes played their part in a sixteen goal thriller with Moorside Rangers Green. There were two goals each for Jayden Walker, Brett McWilliams, Ashley Tonge and Coby McCormack. Goalkeeper Nazim M.Wali was voted Man of the Match.
Playing twice in twenty four hours were the under 8’s Storm who’s Saturday match was against De La Salle FC. On target were Man of the Match Joshua Kilfoyle, Oliver Cowley, James Cadwalader and Saul Tagoe, Then on an all-weather pitch the Storm were in action again at South Manchester JFC. Joshua Kilfoyle and Man of the Match James Cadwalader scored the goals.
In their Development Group Red Division fixture with Da La Salle Devils the Under 8’s Tornadoes struggled to adapt to the pace of the game and conceded a few goals. But the Tornadoes players produced a much improved performance in the second half. The goals came via Jonathan Lowery and Joel Thorndyke who was named as Man of the Match.
After their pitch at Beech Farm was deemed unplayable the Under 7’ Hurricanes moved the Development Group Red Division home game to Walkden High School. United’s opponents were Barr Hill Hearts who contributed to a ten goal thriller. The Hurricanes goalscorers were Star Player Ethan Harris and Lloyd Hiles.
The Under 7’s Storm’s leading goalscorer Kylan Twigg brought his personal tally in the last three games to thirteen. He netted a hat trick in the Development Group Yellow Division match against Swinton Junior Pumas. Voted Man of the Match was Ellis Adamson.
Producing an outstanding performance in the Under 7’s Tornadoes Development Group Green Division away game at Stretford Victoria was goalkeeper and Man of the Match Reece Cartwright. On target with two goals for Beechy was Harry Jones.
