A driver suffered a head injury in a head-on collision with a 52 First bus in Lower Broughton this morning.
Police were called to the scene on Cromwell Road, near the junction with Seaford Road at 8.10am, Wednesday 3 February.
The driver of a red Ford Focus was dazed by a head injury sustained in the crash and when he managed to get himself out of his car, walked off from the scene, said police.
Officers identified the driver but as of 9.30am were still looking for him.
He is described as a white male, aged 25 -30, wearing a dark jacket, dark trousers and carrying a black shoulder bag with a grey strap.
It’s understood he suffered injuries to his ribs and cuts to his head.
He was not treated by paramedics from North West Ambulance Service and is understood still to be injured.
There are not thought to have been any injuries to the bus driver.
A number of passengers, including schoolchildren were on the bus at the time, but there are no reports of any other injuries.
The road was closed in the aftermath of the collision.
It caused long delays in and around Gerald Road, Littleton Road and towards Pendleton roundabout, with traffic being diverted away from the crash along Seaford Road.
As of 10.15am recovery vehicles were at the scene to remove the Ford Focus.
