The serving officer, 30-year-old Hemayat Enayat, gave his home address as Gratrix Avenue in Ordsall, just yards from where police carried out Thursday’s drugs bust.

He, along with two alleged accomplices, Demain Cousins from Ancoats and and Rico Richards from Moss Side, have been charged with conspiracy to produce cannabis and conspiracy to commit misconduct in public office.

Salford man Dean Barker, 33, was charged with conspiracy to produce cannabis.

Rudi Chuwen, of Regent Avenue in Moss side was also charged with conspiracy to produce cannabis.

Greater Manchester Police said the charges came after an ongoing internal investigation by its own Counter Corruption Unit.

All are due to appear before Manchester Magistrates Court on 3 March 2016.

A 29-year-old woman arrested on conspiracy to cultivate cannabis and money laundering has been released pending further inquiries until a later date.
