Police close Cromwell Road after shots fired


Police were called to Cromwell Road in Salford after shots were fired at a barber shop.

Officers closed off the street at 8pm on Saturday 6 February after receiving reports of shots fired.

Reports suggest witnesses heard four distinct gunshots shortly before 8pm.

The shots were fired towards Aras Barber shop, Greater Manchester Police confirmed.

No one was reported injured.

Police vans and tactical support units closed off Cromwell Road from the junction of Seaford Road to Cromwell Roundabout.

Crime scene investigators are expected to remain at the scene into the early hours.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said, “We were called to Cromwell Road with reports of shots fired towards a business premises.”

“There have been no injuries, however we are still investigating the reason behind this attack.”

“We always appeal for witnesses in instances like these and you can contact us using the usual methods.”

There are road closures in place while police continue to investigate the incident.

Local residents are reportedly ‘shaken up’ about the incident.
