Volunteer counsellor with autistic child has car stolen in ‘car key burglary’

A volunteer counsellor with four children, with the youngest of them being on the autistic spectrum had her car stolen in a ‘car key burglary’.

On Tuesday 9 February 2016 at around 6pm thieves entered Joanne Horan’s property in the Claremont Road area of Irlams o’ th’ height to steal the car keys to her silver Audi Q3 parked in the driveway. Unfortunately Joanne’s house keys were also attached them.

Miss Horan said, “We need this vehicle for school runs and days out, and now the school holidays are approaching.”

“My child’s physiotherapy exercises from his appointment that day were in there.”

Joanne works as a counsellor for a local hospice and is understandably devastated at this incident.

“For me the worst is the psychological side. The fact someone had been in my house.”

“I was already nervous in my own home. I have just today been provided with a hire car.”

“I had to stay up on the night of burglary all night as they took my house keys. I had to get the locks changed.”

“I have appointments and the boys break up from school today. Alfie also likes routine because of his condition so a different car in his world without being prepared is not good.”

Joanne contacted the police and posted on Facebook a description of the car and the registration plate as soon as she realised it was missing. The car still hasn’t been recovered.

Anybody who was in the Claremont Road area of Irlam’s o’ th’ height on Tuesday 9 February 2016 between 5pm and 8pm that might have seen anything please contact the police on 101.
