Volunteer at Salford Lads Club to help train next generation of football stars

Have you ever fancied volunteering as a football coach for an historic Salford youth team set to go places?

Salford Lads Club in Ordsall are looking to recruit football coaches for teams of boys aged Under 10 and Under 11 for next season.

Here’s is the good thing: prospective coaches don’t need any experience or qualifications as the club will provide hands-on training. Going forward, they also promise to put coaches through an FA Level 1 Award in coaching.

Paul Houghton from Salford Lads Club told us: “In the past we have had many teams representing the club but we have only recently started putting teams in to junior football leagues.

“Our Under 12s currently use the club’s gym on St Ignatius Walk in Ordsall for winter training, something the team we’re looking to form could also do.”

The club itself was founded in 1903 and is best known for its association with cult band The Smiths.
The coaches and volunteers already at the club teaching the Under 12’s would be on hand to help or offer any advice to interested parties.

The club are also looking to recruit players from local and surrounding area, and are already asking local schools if anybody would be interested in joining the team.

Salford Lads Club was formed in 1903 to help keep local youths from getting into mischief and has a great tradition of sporting attributes and club members.

If this sounds the ideal volunteer position for you then please contact Paul Houghton on 077627978657 or e-mail paulh272@gmail.com
