Beechfield United suffered their heaviest defeat since March 2013 when they lost 7-0 at home to current Manchester Football League Division 1 leaders East Manchester.
Despite being forced to field a much-changed line-up Beechy offered no excuses for their poor performance.
The visitors to Salford Sports Village dominated the match and Beechy had to thank keeper Steven Naylor for a brilliant display.
United’s Man of the Match made at least eight outstanding saves but Beechy did have periods in the game when they had chances to score what would have been a consolation goal.
East Manchester played with a good tempo and quickly put pressure on United’s makeshift back four of Carl Ravenscroft, Mike Rogerson, Luke Johnston and Evan Jeffries. The visitors number seven was at the heart of a large percentage of his teams free-flowing moves and East Manchester took the lead despite a suspicion of offside in the 5th minute then Steven Naylor rescued Beechy with three excellent saves prior to East Manchester going 2-0 up after eighteen minutes.
Jamie Sinnott who continually displayed some clever footwork down the right flank was the biggest threat to the visitors as Beechy briefly enjoyed a better period of attacking play but United never really tested the East Manchester keeper.
Continuing to dictate the pace of the game East Manchester added their third goal via a debatable penalty decision on the half hour mark. Showing great movement off the ball the visitors number nine found himself with enough time and space in the area to put East Manchester 4-0 ahead just before the whistle for half time.
Just two minutes into the second half United’s faint hopes of a possible comeback were completely destroyed when the ball was given away in midfield and taking full advantage was East Manchester’s number eight who netted the visitors fifth goal. Once again Steven Naylor who was constantly involved showed his ability with more first-class saves but he couldn’t prevent East Manchester from taking a 6-0 lead on 55 minutes.
United continually struggled to contain their talented opponents but both Alex Hunter and Brad Sixsmith should have finished off a couple of clear cut chances following a late attacking surge from Beechy.
United’s miserable ninety minutes was complete when East Manchester’s number ten fired home the visitors seventh goal during the closing minutes.
