Beechfield United Under 16’s played their first match in 2016 and ended a frustrating eleven week period without a game.
In the Timperley and District Junior Football League United switched their Division 3 home fixture with Longhey Athletic to Ordsall Leisure Centre after their pitch at Stott Lane had been deemed unplayable.
Unfortunately Beechy produced a below-par performance against their bottom of the table opponents and suffered a 2-0 defeat. Harry Davies was voted United’s Man of the Match.
The Under 12’s Storm lost for the second time this season following their Supplementary Cup away game at De La Salle Devils. The Storm were beaten 5-1 by a very good and well organised De La Salle outfit who dominated the match and scored five first-class goals.
Jack Thompson netted United’s consolation goal and receiving the Best Player Award was Jordan Booth. Out of contention for the Supplementary Cup Beechy will now focus their attention on winning the League Title, Challenge Cup and the Manchester FA Youth Cup.
In the Under 11’s Development Group Blue Division Beechy Storm (9v9) got the chance to play on the 3G Astroturf Pitch at Salford Sports Village against Swinton Junior Cobras. Star Striker Adam Rothwell was on target twice for the Storm who’s Best Player was Tom Cox.
Also playing a Swinton Juniors outfit were the Under 11’s Tornadoes who met the Panthers at Salford Sports Village. Ronan Courtney superbly set-up the opportunity for Alan Kay to score the Tornadoes only goal. Callum Looby was named Man of the Match following a superb midfield performance.
After all games scheduled for the grass pitches at Beech Farm Playing Fields were cancelled United’s Under 10’s Tornadoes moved their Supplementary Tournament fixture to their opponents ground. On an artificial surface the Tornadoes played Ladybridge Tigers and won the match thanks to top-quality display and goals from Man of the Match Kaiden McClean, Harley Davidson and Theo Valentine.
Creating chances galore in the first half of their Supplementary Cup game with Moorside Rangers Yellow were the Under 12’s Tornadoes who should have been 5-0 up at half time. Wasting those goalscoring opportunities cost United dearly because they eventually lost the tie 4-2. Henry Grimes was the Tornadoes Star Player and on target with the goals were Ellis Kenny and Joe Staley.
Producing a superb all-round display were the Under 9’s Storm who met neighbours Moorside Rangers Red. According to Manager Richard Jackson the Storm played their best football so far this season. Josh McLoughlin, Cole Winstanley and Man of the Match Freddie Jackson got the goals.
Dominic Roaden collected his third successive Under 9’s Hurricanes Man of the Match Award following the Development Group Purple away game against Parkwyddn Predators. At Eccles College the Hurricanes who found themselves two goals down recovered superbly but after briefly taking the lead had to settle for a draw. Goalscorers were Dominic Roaden and Georgi Georgiev.
Beechy Under 7’s Storm were in action at Ordsall Leisure Centre in a Tournament match with Swinton Junior Jaguars.
Taking his goals tally to twenty seven so far this season was Kylan Twigg. The Storm’s other goalscorer was Ellis Adamson and earning himself the Man of the Match Award was Lucas Harris.
There were a couple of goals for Fletcher Jackson in the Under 7’s Tornadoes Tournament game against De La Salle Reds. Rewarded for an impressive performance was Jacob Kershaw-Shilling who received the Best Player Accolade.
The games involving Under 7’s Hurricanes, Under 8’s Storm, Under 8’s Tornadoes, Under 8’s Hurricanes, Under 9’s Typhoon, Under 9’s Lightning, Under 10’s Storm, Under 11’s Thunder, Under 13’s Tornadoes, Under 14’s Storm, Under 15’s Tornadoes. Under 15’s Predators, Under 17’s were postponed.
