A new community centre which offers a focal point of recovery activity for a life away from substance misuse will be officially opened in Salford this week.
The City Mayor of Salford, Ian Stewart will officially open the new build which forms part of Achieve – Salford Recovery Services on Thursday 25th February.
This project has been funded in partnership by Public Health England, Salford Clinical Commissioning Group, Salford City Council and Greater Manchester West Mental Health Foundation Trust (GMW).
The new build offers a space for recovery activity to take place, with those in recovery and their families receiving professional and peer led support. This includes family interventions, therapeutic activities, employment, and training and education advice. The centre has also enabled the development of future recovery groups to take place.
Carol Marsh, Service Manager at Achieve Salford Recovery Services said, “This new centre was developed in partnership with services users, their families and carers and offers an environmentally friendly and therapeutic space for recovery activity to take place.
“We recognise that beating addiction is only part of the recovery process and so as part of the therapeutic sessions that take place in the centre we also offer a range of services helping people to get back on their feet with housing advice and training and employment services.
“Together we are determined to make a real difference to families, communities and people affected by substance use in Salford”
City Mayor Ian Stewart said, “This kind of centre is exactly what people need to help them recover and rebuild their lives. People will not only get the professional help they need here, but will also be able to come here to support and encourage each other.”
Achieve Salford Recovery Services, which is delivered by GMW in partnership with T.H.O.M.A.S, Great Places Housing Group, Early Break and Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust, delivers services in multiple locations around Salford and will celebrate the launch of the new centre in the presence of service users, volunteers, staff and partners this week.
