Ambulances rushed a man to hospital in Ellesmere Park, Eccles, last night after he suffered a medical episode while walking down the street.
SalfordOnline readers reported Portland Road being closed off by police at around 6pm on Thursday 25 February.
Officers found a 39-year-old man with a head injury.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to Salford Royal hospital for assessment.
His condition is not considered to be life-threatening.
The incident was initially reported as a hit-and-run, but it now appears that no vehicles were involved.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed officers were called to the scene at Portland Street at 5.50pm on Thursday.
The road was closed for around 40 minutes before police gave the scene the all-clear and it was re-opened at 6.30pm.
