NHS Salford Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) is delighted to announce the appointment of a new chair, Dr Tom Tasker.
Dr Tasker has been a GP in Salford for the last 18 years and has been an active member of Salford CCG’s governing body since 2013. He is currently the CCG’s clinical lead for mental health and neighbourhood clinical lead for Eccles and Irlam.
Commenting on his appointment, Dr Tasker said: “The NHS is going through a lot of change, especially with Greater Manchester devolution, so it is a real honour to have been appointed as Chair to lead Salford CCG through the next stage of our development. We have ambitious plans to reduce health inequalities and further improve the quality of our services and I am looking forward to working with the people of Salford and all our partners and healthcare providers to make this happen.”
Anthony Hassall, chief accountable officer for Salford CCG, said: “I am delighted that Tom will be bringing his expertise and talents to the role of chair. His passion for improving mental health services for the people of Salford has driven forward the mental health agenda and he is a well-respected and trusted colleague, both here at the CCG and amongst his colleagues and patients at his practice in Eccles.
“We are looking forward to continue our work with Tom to ensure we develop the best services for our city.”
Dr Tasker will take over from the out-going chair, Dr Hamish Stedman, who retires in July.
