Coronation Street star goes quackers for Duck Race

Coronation Street actor, Jack P Shepherd has teamed up with Bathroom Takeaway, Brainwave and Capital Properties to officially start this year’s Manchester Duck Race at Spinningfields.

Jack will be throwing thousands of rubber ducks into the River Irwell off The New Bailey Street Bridge at 2.00pm on March 25th in front of approximately 10,000 people.

Businesses from across the region have bought their corporate duck’s for £270 and individuals can still buy their duck’s for just £1 each.

All the money raised will go to Brainwave who work to improve the lives of families and children with sensory, cognitive and learning disabilities. To purchase your ducks please visit:

Jack P Shepherd said: “When Bathroom Takeaway asked me to get involved and launch the Manchester Duck race I instantly said yes. My family love the duck race and all the children at 13 Performing Arts School are so excited about being part of this fantastic day.”

Bathroom Takeaway’s Managing Director, Julian Smith, said: “We’re all very excited about supporting this event and are delighted Jack and 13 Performing Arts School are coming along to add some excitement and drama to the day.

As well as a 6 metre duck on Deansgate, there will be roll top baths dotted around Spinningfields and we’ll be inviting people to hook a duck to win iPads, bathroom goodies and even a complete bathroom!”

Carole Headley, Development Manager at Brainwave said: “We’re very grateful to Bathroom Takeaway and Jack for their support and enthusiastic ideas.

All the funds raised from the duck race will help to improve the lives of families and children with sensory, cognitive and learning disabilities so I do encourage everyone to come along and take part in the fun.”

As well as the Duck Race there will be street food, a fun fair and even a real life city farm so there really is something for everyone. The activities will be taking place from 11.00am – 4.00pm on Good Friday, 25th March, and as it is a free event it’s a great family day out.
