Rail services were suspended on the Eccles railway line this morning after a man walked onto railway lines at Patricroft station.
At 9.45am this morning, Thursday 3 March, police, fire crews and ambulances were called to the station at Green Lane in Eccles to reports of concern for the welfare of a man.
They discovered the man on the railway lines.
He was ushered away to safety and was not reported to be injured.
Trains were halted in both directions between Manchester and Liverpool while the emergency crews took care of the man.
All lines have now re-opened and Northern Rail say services should return to normal shortly.
