Fans of old-fashioned sweets such as aniseed balls, gobstoppers and dolly mixtures are in for a treat with the news that a new sweet shop has opened in Eccles Precinct called Sarah’s Sweet Shop.
The shop, next door to Mario’s Chip Shop – which gained fame when Ray Winstone dropped in to film his ITV drama last year – was formally opened on Saturday 5 March 2015 by Councillor Peter Wheeler, who cut the official ribbon.
Owner of the new venture Sarah Fabri, 28, lives in Eccles.
She’s hoping the atmosphere of the retro shop will help the local public will take her to heart.
“I have always wanted to own my sweet shop, even as a child, and when I saw this space up for rent I thought I’d give it a go.
“I stock a vast range of sweets such as the traditional ones like gobstoppers, sweets that older people will remember.
“There is also a large stock of sugar-free sweets, halal sweets, pick and mix cones and chocolates and I also make custom made sweet cones for birthdays, wedding favours, and other events.
“With Easter coming I have in stock a large selection of Easter Eggs, also I will be making custom made Easter Baskets to your own design.”
Councillor Peter Wheeler said:”It’s good to see new shops opening in Eccles Precinct.
“Hopefullly it will attract a lot of custom and I wish Sarah good luck with her venture.”
