Jogger, 54, dies after Manchester Road crash


A 54-year-old runner has sadly died at Salford Royal hostpial after being hit by a car.

The man’s next of kin have been informed but he has not yet been formally identified.

At around 6.50pm on Tuesday 8 March the man was jogging north east along Bolton Road towards the junction with the A6 Manchester Road, which runs towards Little Hulton.

As he crossed the carriageway of Manchester Road, he was struck by a Kia Venga travelling south east.

Police put out a call for drivers to send in dashcam footage after the man suffered a critical head injury in the Tuesday 8 March accident.

The 65-year-old female driver of the Kia was tested for alcohol and drugs at the scene but provided negative samples. She was not arrested.

Police Sergeant Mark Thomas of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “The man sadly passed away and our thoughts are with his family at what is a very difficult time for them.

“If you witnessed the collision, or have any dash-cam or CCTV footage please call police and let us know what you saw.”
