Days out of Salford: St Patrick’s Day parade in Manchester

This Sunday will see one of Europe’s biggest St Patrick’s Day parades descend on Manchester city centre.

It’s time to don your green wigs and bring out those Irish flags to join thousands of daytrippers, pipers and bands at this joyous celebration of Irish history.

Last year over 40,000 people lined the route of the 25th anniversary parade as it wound its way into Manchester city centre to its final destination at Albert Square.

The two-mile march from the Irish World Heritage Centre in Cheetham Hill will be accompanied by traditional musicians, dancers and community groups, with Irish food stalls and entertainment on offer outside Manchester Town Hall.
