Manchester City vs Dynamo Kiev: Local family delight with Champions League ticket win

A local dad from Salford is celebrating after his name was plucked out of SalfordOnline.com’s fabled lucky hat to win tickets to see Manchester City.

The Blues take on Ukranian heavyweights Dynamo Kiev in the second leg of their Champions League clash on Tuesday 15 March.

SalfordOnline.com had four tickets to give away for the epic match after teaming up with City and Amaze PR.

Hundreds entered for the prize.

“I can’t believe I’ve actually won, I never win anything in competitions, so I never normally bother entering,” said winner Andy Pratt.

His eight-year-old son Lewis, who goes to River View Primary School in Lower Broughton, has been mithering Andy to take him to a ‘real’ football match.

“We’ve been to see Salford City at Moor Lane a couple of times but Lewis has never been to a Premier League or Champions League match.

“He still doesn’t know I entered so I can’t wait to tell him when I pick him up from school today.”

Joining the dynamic duo are pal John King and Lewis’ five-year-old cousin Finley Bennett.

City could make history by beating Dynamo Kiev to seal their place in the Champions League quarter-finals.

Having run out 3-1 winners in the first leg in Ukraine, Manuel Pellegrini’s men are 11/20 favourites with Betway to ensure their progression.

With Premier League success all but out of their grasp, City are looking for a strong showing at the Etihad in their quest for silverware.

Sergio Aguero leads the City frontline with 21 goals this season, and The Blues are averaging just under two goals every home game.

But Pellegrini has found it grating that his side have been ahead so many times before allowing the opposition back in; City are still the only team in the Champions League last 16 who haven’t yet kept a clean sheet.

Andy promises to take a snap at the Etihad to show us all back at SalfordOnline.com – even if the unthinkable happens and City fail to progress.
