Salford tower block fire sees three treated for smoke inhalation


Three people were given oxygen therapy at the scene of a high-rise tower block fire in Salford last night.

At around 9.30pm on Thursday 21 May, four fire engines from Manchester Central, Salford and Agecroft were called to Cherry Tree Court on Kiwi Street in Pendleton.

They found a fire had broken out on in a flat on the seventh floor.

Crews in breathing apparatus used two water jets to douse the flames and bring the blaze under control.

There was significant smoke damage to the kitchen of the property.

No serious injuries were recorded.

The fire is thought to have started when a pan of food on a cooker caught ablaze.
